REMOVAL OF FIBROID

Submucous fibroids can be removed hysteroscopically with precision and safety. This is performed using a special operative hysteroscope that uses electrical energy to cut and cauterize the fibroid (similar to classical surgeries).

The procedure is very similar to diagnostic hysteroscopy, but it usually requires general anesthesia for a few minutes. Not all fibroids can be removed with this method, and therefore detailed pre-operative counselling is essential.

Their hysteroscopic removal increases fertility, reduces pregnancy miscarriages, and also reduces blood flow in women with heavy periods (menorrhagia).
