Ovarian cysts – The corpus luteum
Ovarian cysts can be benign or malignant (cancerous) and are visible on gynecological ultrasound examination.
They are usually functional (benign), meaning that they are normally formed by the woman’s hormones and require surgical treatment only in a few cases. the corpus luteum is such a cyst that does not require treatment and usually disappears with menstruation.
